I am back in!

I am back in!

Postby armybass » Sat Feb 26, 2011 8:03 pm

IN the effort to get back into gigging I had to purchase a new URB since I sold all of mine off a few years ago. Last time I purchased my basses for gigs I let the concern of what others though effect my decision and I did not get the blond of my dreams., I have had a few nice blonds and I wanted another. I just scored this Englehardt EM1B. I don't know how long they have been making blond EM1's but it has not been long. The grain is not as fancy as it is on an ES9 and the fingerboard is cherry instead of ebony.

Mike, I have no experience whatsoever but I would like to do some bluegrass or Americana...maybe just work with acoustic acts like singer song writer type gigs. Many of the jazz gigs would not have me with my big blonde but that is just fine with me. I just want to play good music with other good players and maybe make a little dough. I am sure I will score some jazz gigs with the not ready for prime time players and that is just fine with me. I consider myself one of them...LOL.

My first upright was an Englehardt. Is the neck on yours thick like a regular upright or smallish like the other Englehardts? I don't know if all the models have the small neck or not.

Scott, want something to inspire ya? Check out The Wood Brothers on YouTube. Really cool mixture of influences into a great format. I love the product they've come up with.

Fred as far as I know all Engles have the thin neck profile...not my favorite but I can deal with it.

Mike I see you posted it on FB, I will check it out.

Yeah, I never liked the thin neck on them but it got me through college . . . barely.

Guess I never really thought about it but three years ago this month when I was knocked on my proverbial and literal ass, I guess I tried to change everything in my life that reminded me of the past...save my kids thank God because they got me through. I am ready to return one of the aspects of my life that I walked away from. So glad there are so many familiar and happy faces. Now... I need some effin gigs!

Know thyself. Hard as you try, you will never change who you are.

Look up J.B. Beverly in Richmond. He needs a new bass player. Johnny Lawless got married. Big plus is that you would get to play with Bangerdan. Doesn't get any more roots than them. He has a studio too, probably could do some recording. He's on Facebook.
