OH yeah I still have the urb - my brother sold the bow to pay for a repair [smilie=angry-smiley-005.gif] but I still play. Sometimes nothing but an urb will do - I think it has really affected what I think of as a bass sound - for example I'm still trying to figure out this tweeter thing ... why a tweeter ? my urb teacher got along w/o one

"working out" is right!
Put it down for a while and then play again and you'll be really sore the next day -

I'll hop in here! Current;y playing an Engle EM-1, an dsearching for the right pickup (like all of us), but seem to be favoring the BassMax, at least these days. Loving it!

I've been thinking about trying upright for a while, did some reading around and decided an Englehardt EM-1 would be a good start. I wasn't really in 'buy' mode...in fact, I was going to look into renting a bass for a month or two to see how we could get along. Then an EM-1 came up on c-list, and I couldn't help myself. So, this past Sunday, with the help of Mike Childree, I bought my first upright. Although it looks a lot like Ampig's bass, I'll try to get some pics of it up here soon. I love the sound of these things, but dang...they're HARD to play!

It's in my garage. I'm getting ready to sell it off. Any interest?

That bad boy looks to be in quite nice condition, Rene! I'd say you got a good deal. The wrapping may not be as neat as our EB wrapping, but it's actually not bad. The end result is good, which is a straight-line pull from the last winding thru the nut slots. You wanna avoid sharp bends that make the windings separate, as you see at the bridge on your E-string...but that's normal too. No real way to avoid that.

Let's see. I made my living for years as a symphony bassist. That count?
