OK, how many URB Badasses do we have?

Here's my ES1 backstage with "Too Slim" from Riders In The Sky. He borrowed her for the show and played a great set.

I haven't been able to play mine for several years now. Trying to hear myself while playing in a big band with a VERY loud guitar-playing bandleader I eventually gave myself a nice case of Repetitive Stress Injury. Be careful out there folks [smilie=smilie_kopf.gif]
It's been feeling pretty good lately, and I was able to play a big bass recently with ridiculously low action without any pain, so I think it's time to set my bass up with stupid, sissy-low action. I'll take the hit in tone and volume to be able to play it again. Picked up a new set of Spirocores this week to inspire me to git er done.

I read this old post asking how many basses we have... well, being a dealer, I have many. But with all the temptation I have to play everything (and all at once!), I've learned to keep my 2 main basses and not 'fool around' anymore. I still have my Vincenzo Corain Italian bass (c.1848) and a sweet little French bass by Piere Hel (I call it my "Hell bass") , I also use a Wan-Bernadel bass, but mainly keep with the Italian. The reason being is that I am not one of these players that can just switch back and forth and jump around on different basses AND still play it in tune!! Anyhow, I love playing the bass, whatever it is...

Got one 3/4 but also looking at 1/2 later today. Thinking of using the smaller bass as more of a gig/travel bass allowing me to keep the 3/4 comfy in its spot in the studio upstairs. I hate going up and down stair with one of these.

Thanks Mike. I was thinking that the 1/2 scale would be child's size bass but I guess the 1/4 size is for children.

I'm no badass, but I am getting an audition for a bluegrass/country band this next week. I've been wrestlin around with the big girl, it ain't pretty, but it's been fun. I've made more progress in a week than I've made in months.

I have been playing my upright quite a bit lately. It is a Cremora SB-1. When I bought it, it had the weed wacker strings. I took it upon myself to set it up for the spirocores. [smilie=fun_84.gif]

I've been a lot more interested in mine lately too. I never really stop gigging with it, I just tended to double a lot more on the current gig I do. Lately, it seems we are getting more attention due to my URB playing so I started leaving the electric at home. In fact, that electric was a Rob Allen that I just traded to Brad Dell, so it's all-URB-all-the-time on that gig now.

Just hooked up with a long-time guitarist buddy of mine, as well, and convinced him to do a blues/roots duo with me....REALLY looking forward to that. This guy is a monster player and singer but he doesn't have much confidence in his acoustic guitar skills for some reason, and it took some time to get him to do it.

So, I'm pretty much back to URB full time...

My electric gig is steady year round, but as the warmer time of year approaches the URB gig is busier than the electric. Just played a packed St Patty's day party with the acoustic band last Saturday http://www.myspace.com/delvers

If electric uprights count... mine will be finished and road tested on a gig next weekend!
