Best tone I ever got with a "bucket bass" was with a 5 gallon pickle bucket from a restaurant. here's
a kink to the plans. http://tubotonia.freehomepage.com/Birdsley.html

Nice part was that you could leave the bucket and get a new one wherever you went. I made about
four of them and gave them all away to whatever bluegrass circle I was playing in. This was in the days
before my first upright.

Polyethylene, Polypropolene, or Hybrid ?

New basses are red. Used basses are black.

Bucket was solid green Polyethylene the originally contained thin sliced (not whole) pickles. The base that held the bucket was laminate, 3/4" exterior grade plywood, with a solid mop handle neck, and a 3/8" cotton clothesline string. So yes, it was a hybrid! [smilie=grinning-smiley-044.gif]
