MusicMan intonation screw and saddle - 1996

Postby dukeplaysbass » Thu Jul 07, 2011 10:55 pm

I'm restoring an early Sterling (Feb 96) and the D intonation screw was so corroded, I literally snapped it off trying to extract it.

Anybody got a spare?

Can you post a top and side pic, Tris? I have 4 saddles/screws/springs and they should work but I can't remember which these are as far as where the string notch is.

That match anything you got? Or is EB/MM still using this, and I can just order up one from customer service?

Hmm, I can't tell for sure but it looks different. My saddles have the string notch right next to the intonation screw, so I don't think mine will work for you. I bet the screw is the same, so if you can somehow get that screw out of the saddle I have the screw you'll need.

Here's a pic of a current Sterling bridge, the saddles look like they've moved the string notch a little since 1996, it looks like your string notch is right next to the height screw. I'd give EBMM customer service a call, worst they can say is no. Maybe soak the saddle in WD40 and heat it up with a torch to get that screw loose?

Had to torch the screw to get the saddle off, but it worked. A little discolored, but fine. I ordered up a saddle/intonation screw set from EBMM since it was $13, and they sent two screws. The screws look exactly the same.

All polished up, and rockin' LA!!!

Thanks, Brad!

Very nice Tris, that's the same color as my very first Sterling.
