WTB-Jazz Bass Bridge/Neck Plate Cheap

Postby nolabass » Fri Oct 07, 2011 9:15 am

I need cheap....seriously cheap, neck plate+screws, bridge+screws. I want to get this beater Jazz bass set-up before I spend money on pups and electronics. Might find a fatal flaw in the neck/body match and can't afford to experiment right now. If the thing turns out to sing then I will put some TLC in her and match some better parts.

I have a bridge for you Pete. Just pay for shipping.

It even has string thru option and non-standard (90's made in usa) bolt pattern.

You guys Rock! [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif] [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif] [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif] See what shipping would be to 70121? It's not like it's a bunch of money but if I take it too a Luthier and spend for new parts I will be $150 into it. Hell, I could buy a used Squire Jazz for that and rob parts. The body being so light and the Fullerton neck being one of my all time favorite shapes might yield a cool piece. All my money....and I mean all of it is going into our school so every little bit helps me tinker with a toy with minimal damage.

How does a plastic plate affect the sustain? if at all? I would think a metal to wood connection would have more sustain.

I don't think under a band anyone could perceive a difference in sustain. Frankly sustain is an over rated quality in my bass world. I use old strings, flats and mutes a lot. I can't remember ever thinking a bass needed more sustain....less dead spot maybe, but never owned a bass I thought suffered from sustain issues. Why do I need a bass to sustain past 4....maaaaybe 8 beats? I'm trying to create holes....not fill them. [smilie=cheeky-smiley-025.gif]
