A student of mine wants to upgrade his p bass pickup without breaking the budget. Whaddya guys got hanging out in your used parts boxes? Unfortunately I don't have anything decent to help him out with. Thanks-

Not for me but Chris's preferences lie in the passive EMG/Bart + BA2 realm. He really likes the tone of my 78P with EMG's (which is what I often use for his lesson) so something in that vein I think would work for him. Which one best fits this profile?

Unfortunately EMGs have a somewhat distinctive tone, I don't think anything I have will sound the same. The Schaller PBX is made of the same materials as the Dimarzio P but it's a bit brighter and clearer sounding.

That's cool. I appreciate the response. I think I will recommend he get a pickup off ebay and we'll install it here along with a BA2 I have sold him. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]
