Aria Pro ll SB1000 modded--price drop $495

Need to move a couple of things to cover recent purchase of some guitar synth gear. About 4 or 5 years ago I purchased an older Paduak red Aria Pro II SB1000 with some significant mods & about a year ago was able to buy a reissue BB electronic circuit to replaced what had been gutted by a previous owner. Earlier this year I traded into the oak finish, similar vintage, unmodded SB1000, so I guess it's time to cut the modded one loose. I'm putting up a side-by-side comparison with my vintage, unmodified SB 1000 (which is not for sale) so that you can see how some things have been relocated or added. A prior owner had moved the original Alembic-style pickup toward the neck and installed a black single-ply custom pickguard to cover the route. A Bartolini J-style pickup was professionally installed in the bridge position. The original BB electronics were gutted to make this a passive bass & some of the controls were moved around (i.e. another hole was drilled to relocate the active/passive switch). When the SB 1000 was reissued, I purchased a re-issue circuit board and all of the switches and pots and status LED and had that circuit professionally installed. The caveat is that I am not quite sure how the Bartolini pickup and associated stacked pot interact with the SB 1000 pickup and circuit, and I have been unable to get in touch with the tech who did the installation of the reissue board. It appears that the Bartolini only comes into the circuit when the active/passive switch is in the passive mode (i.e. pointing toward the output jack). When the SB 1000 is in the active mode (switch pointing in direction of the neck), the Bartolini pickup does not appear to be in the circuit. (Also note that when I refer to active/passive I am referring to “active” as to when the 6 position varitone attack circuit is switched on). The frets show a small amount of cupping, but IMHO are no where near needing even a dressing. There are nicks, dings, etc., but really nothing even reflective of its age. The bass bout strap pin has been moved a fraction of an inch. As far as age, all I can say is SN#1050xx; I don't know much about the history of the SB1000, other than I had been wanting one of these since the early 1980s. Other than the mods, the big caveat here is that it weighs 11.7 lbs--it was a true child of its era! $495.00 shipped to the lower 48--Paypal is okay, too. I don't have a case, but will include a gig bag to help protect it in shipping.

I would dig that bass... it's my era! I saw Mountain in '81 or so, and the bass player had a similar model. I'm moving something along I hope, soon, and will keep this in mind. Be back...
