You want funky? EUB Special Holiday Sale, local only

1960's or 70's Sekova-Guyatone 39" scale EUB.

This is a really cool piece IMHO. I used to play it out quite a bit but I have not in too many years. I'm tempted to drag it out again but when it comes down to actually loading it into the car I whimp out.

Needs TLC. It's quite playable as is but it's very funked up. Heavy checking and lots of bumps, dings, scrapes. The gouge on the finger board does not seem to affect anything and the rest of the board is in very good shape. Previous owner out Schaller tuners on it. They work fine but the installation was not ideal. The intricate scroll work on the headstock is exquisite!!! The bridge was broken when I got it so I had a local upright player make me one. It's kinda collapsing but it works. I've seen pictures of this bass with a solid slab bridge which wouldn't be too hard to make and you could incorporate the original height adjusting wheels. It has a strange reed cabinet under the PU that's engaged with the "mix" switch. I never liked it and never used it. Some asshole (Oh, I think it was me) moved the tail piece down a few inches when he realized the Thomastik strings he had purchased were too long. Uprights come in different scale lengths? What did I know and there was no internet at the time. The strings are about 25 years old. Home made stand included.

Sounds fantastic.

I'm not even going to try and ship this thing so this is only for someone who wants to come get it. I could maybe meet you half way within a reasonable distance of Hartford, CT

Cat is not included.

Thanks for the endorsement. Did a bit of research on it and I bleeb
I'm better served sticking with my Zeta Educator Crossover, which I
can play on a strap or, when horizontal space is at a premium, on
its endpin.

OK, but there's no way a Zeta has anywhere near the bizarre factor that this thing has. Besides, I could have seen what a Golem looks like :)

Craigslist here I come.

Just out of curiosity, where do you reside?

Crap, that was exactly my plan!!!

Long, long ago I spent a few thoroughly inebriated weekends in Troy visiting a friend who was attending RPI.

'Twas the week before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... Well the cat woke me up when he fell out of the Xmas tree.

But anyway... I heard this low, pathetic voice coming from the spare room. At first it was just an unintelligible moan, but as it rose in volume and intensity I began to understand what it was saying:

Goooooolllllleeeeemmmmmmmmm. GOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMM. GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMM GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I AM PRECIOUS

It was the Sekova!!!!! Weird and unloved, it cried out for the only one that could love it, the only one who could understand it, the only one who could save it from it's otherwise inevitable fate of being destroyed by evil kitty catz or the hyperactive 4-year old demon who often runs free here.

C'mon Golem, you know you want it and it wants you!!!! Name your price, make me an interesting trade. Act now before it's too late!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For God's sake man, don't deny your destiny!!!!!!!!!

Oh jeeez .... I wasn't online this morning and I just
bought some other crazy ax about 3 hr after your
post. Acoarst what I bought IS a lot more portable
than your offering, being only 30" scale. Yep a 30"
scale archtop [*true* archtop] and it sounds verrry
URBish. And BTW leznot be offending my Zeta. It's
damnt near as quirky as your EUB ... except that
it doesn't use a hunk of iron gas pipe for a peg. If
I painted mine black and then beat it with chains
it would be a ringer for yours.

Anywho, thankz for letting me know I'm still on
your mind. I'll double the guard on the front and
back porches :-/

There's no escape, I've got a crack team of North Korean hackers searching for your address right now.
