Sheehan's WIfe

Older is better here. If Kebo has to explain, you wouldn't understand.

well here are a few teasers...

Rather than trying to spray the bodyina burst and removingallthe color ( like what happenedto billy's) we decided to REVERSE the processand HAND paint the little bit of finish back ONTO the guitar.

here are a few pics of the process.... there will be MANY MORE when its done. Im keeping a FULL photo log and will write up and article on the project as soon as its finished.

this will replicate (hopefully) the routed area under the bridge that has had NEW wood replaced in billy's wife! ( we didnt want to rout the body and fill it BUT we want it to look as though it was....

ALSO in reverse order from the NORM, we decided to paint the color onto the body, THEN do the clear base coats in order to protect the LOOK of the bass over time.

also we are going to put the decals under the last few coats in order to ensure that they stay ON the bass... they were made in '83 ( we have the LAST of the original stickers)and the adhesiveis getting a little weak.

Interesting approach
but that totally makes sense.

We are curently haveing to RESIZE the decals to make the the correct size to fitthe bass. as a few of them must be recreations.

So they are scanned and off to the printers. as soon as I get them back, well be applying them and starting the assembly process.

The good news is, that I will be able to RECREATE the decals over and over again for anyone that wants a WIFE bass replica! ALSO I just got word that we will be taking the bass to BILLY before delivering to the customer!

so Ill keep you guys posted!

I had the distinct pleasure of seeing that bass in action 2-3 times a weeks while I was growing up in Buffalo, NY. Billy was an absolute wild-man back in those days!

I know John's busy building guitars and basses (he just finished a SWEET J bass for me and he currently has another one of my basses in the shop) but I'd like to see how this one turned out as well! [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]
