Is something rotten here?

Older is better here. If Kebo has to explain, you wouldn't understand.

Is something rotten here?

Quite a few ads recently for Vintage Fenders at too good to be true prices.

I'd e-mail him and ask what it is that we're looking at. I'd ask a range of very specific questions. What is original? not? pot codes, stamps, solder joints, finish (neck and body), hardware, truss rod? routes? if sanded are the contours all in tact? - and a few of detailed photos. get a few specific ones just to confirm that they actually possess it. the usual stuff.

I did and he sent me (and 4 other guys) 17 photos and this response:

Hey- thanks for the inquiry. The P-Bass does not have date stamped on the neck. The serial on the backplate reads L23052. The input jack is not original. There is one spacer on the E-string gear that needs replaced. The faceplate has a crack at the input jack . One spring is missing in the bridge-E-string. I believe the pots read 0064. Thumbrest is intact. I don't have the metal pickup "protector". Hope this helps! Thanks again for your interest.

He obviously is not a player and is unfamiliar with bass anatomy. He seems honest-as far as he knows. But he don't know much. I doubt he could spell Fender if you gave him the FEND.

I will try to upload a few of the photos, too.
