Steve - Respectfully I have to disagree with you. We always get within a stones throw of our asking price. Dealers will get above what civilians will get on a vintage piece. Reasons being
A) People pay for peace of mind and expertese
B) Civilians will dump gear when theres a burdon - A dealer VERY rarely will dump gear to a civilian and if they do its usually to another dealer at a price you'll never know....

The quote in my opinion is dealer pricing is higher than civilian pricing so do not expect to net that price.

Not gonna butt heads on this one. I've sat on both sides of this fence. I fully understand. Rent, transport wall space and bench time are expensive. Joe Schmoe has NO overhead and usually, a lot more incentive to sell. No disrespect meant to dealers - as an "experienced" buyer with my own expertise, I called it as it applies to me.
