I took a chance on this 70's Jazz

Older is better here. If Kebo has to explain, you wouldn't understand.

The seller claims that there is no serial #--check the ebay listing rules to see if it is a violation of ebay policy to list items with altered or removed serial numbers. Basically, the bass is not what the seller claims...you should be able to back out without much of a problem because the item was misrepresented.

Frankly, if you are unable to back out, or choose not to...well, you still appear to have a cool bass you should hang on to rather than try to sell off at any kind of loss.

eBay forbids its members from listing goods that have altered or removed serial numbers, as the possession and sale of such items is prohibited in a majority of states in the U.S.

Bottom line - The neck is a late 74 to early 76 (white blocks and a bullet). The body is either earlier then the neck or a newer RI or offshore. Guarenteed the neck is a 3 bolt. Let me know if you have any questions after the bass arrives. If your parts are all 70s stuff (the guard maybe real too) your in good shape.

Molded cases were from late 77

Looks like I'm set up to get one of those "I didn't get your email until after I sent the bass." from the seller. The sellers gone online to get the money, but isn't bothering to respond to any of my emails. This doesn't bode well for me. :-( Hope it's a player...it may be about to join my closet of misfit keepers! [smilie=cheeky-smiley-025.gif]

OK. I received the bass today and took it partially apart on my desk at work. Here's a shot of the neck pocket and neck. The body pocket has a "JB" and some numbers neck to it in block print. The neck has two green stamps. I suspect the body may be warmoth or something else. Not sure about the neck other than the tilt mechanism is missing and it's been modded to a 4 bolt. The black area is electric tape residue from a shim.
The body does have nice yellowing on areas not covered by the PG.

I think I want my money back.

I know I would.

That notch ain't right....

Which of course was covered by a guard that should have had a notch ( and thumbrest screw holes), IIRC...

D'oh! Sorry, man. I think I would want my money back too.

Have you pulled the pickups to check them yet? What about the pots? Let us know what else you find.

Yeah, I think I'd be pretty bummed. If the pickups, tuners and pots are right, maybe, at worst, you could get a lot of your money back. Any response from the seller?
