Finally did it. The '68 EB-3 is in the shop

A choice, not an echo.

Finally did it. The '68 EB-3 is in the shop

I'm going to have a new fretboard put on and have it refinished. Considering that I bought it as a parts bass a few years back, that's quite a commitment! I'll see if I took any pictures of it, before I dropped it off. If I can't find them, I'll see if I can get the shop to take them for me. They say 6 to 8 weeks. I'm in no hurry. Found one picture of the body. You can just see the bottom of the defretted and shellacked fretboard.

Just heard from the shop. The fretboard is salvageable! So, for now, new frets and refin, and they discovered one of the volume potentiometers is bad, so they'll replace it. Also plan to use a Hipshot Supertone bridge. Those plastic string saddles will likely break under the string pressure they're so old and probably brittle.

Here's the latest picture of the bass work in progress. Looks like the frets are in, too. I'm getting stoked to get this thing back and play it for the first time!

How about some input? Should I leave the gold speed knobs on it or buy a replacement set of black "hat" knobs?

I got this bass from GLJeff back in 2007. I noticed he's not registered on the website anymore. Anyone know what happened to him?

Personally, I'd pass on the gold
especially with the silver bridge/tuners.

Either modern silver or the classic Gibsons.
Just my opinion...

He hasn't been around much since being told "to take [his] weird ass elsewhere". I guess there was a difference of opinion about a subject.
