Finally did it. The '68 EB-3 is in the shop

A choice, not an echo.

They called me Friday to tell me the bass was done and ready to pick up, but I was on my way to FL with the family. Got home last night and will swing by sometime today to get it. Pictures to follow, and hopefully some sound clips later.

It's here! It looks pretty good considering what I had to start with.

It's light weight and plays well, plus it sounds pretty doggone good in the #1 position on the Varitone.

Overall, I'm happy with the bass and with Berkshire Guitars' workmanship.

Oh, and the dude at the shop tells me it's a '67, not a '68. [smilie=cool-smiley-027.gif]

Sweet! When I used to have to front a band the bass player had an EB3 just like that one. I always liked the sound from #1 setting. but never could play that neck with my Fender biased fingers.
Was your vacation miserable waiting to see it ? :hid:

Got to give it a proper test drive at church band rehearsal last night. Going through the PA, the No. 1 position on the Varitone was so overpowering through the subwoofer that I had to put it in the No. 2 position, which sounded fine for the music we were playing, but I'm beginning to wonder how the Varitone is supposed to work, versus how it is actually working. I need to do a little research on that. When I get my '71 slot head EB-3 redone, I am going to put the 3 way toggle in it. I believe I will have more tonal versatility with that set up versus the Varitone switch.
