Jason Lollar makes a Thunderbird pickup (based on the ’64). I had two of those installed (they fit perfectly) and also had new pots and tone cap installed as well. I went for the original spec pots and cap - 500k volume, 250k tone with a .047 cap (orange drop). HUGE difference! I’m completely thrilled with this bass now. The only downside is that was an expensive upgrade.

I went with the Lollars because he offers black chrome covers an an option. I didn't want to change the look too much.
