Gibson on the gig

A choice, not an echo.

Gibson on the gig

I don't get to see/hear many Gibson basses but I caught these guys last week, so here's a plug for a kick-ass funk machine:

Big Mean Sound Machine out of Ithacahttp://www.bigmeansoundmachine.com/

Video doesn't do the bass player justice. He's the front man with a hand in most compositions, arrangements and production. Seems to favor Gibsons. On the gig he was playing a vintage EB or Midtown:, burst, 2 f-holes, single pickup smack up against the neck, archtop, classic pickguard.

Worth going out for if they play near you.

I noticed in the video that the SG he is playing has a slotted headstock. Don't think I ever saw one like that before. Was that stock?

Yes they were but for a brief time in the 70's I think.
