Hey thanks George! I'm waiting for my Carvin neck to come. I've got the wings all finished and waiting. The next trick will be building in the neck angle with the neck thru design. Should be fun!!

Yep, it won't work on my NR project. I didn't account for the fact that the upper wing starts at the 16th. fret and the Carvin heel starts at the 18th. fret. So, it's a no match situation. I'm having a custom neck built by a guy I know off the net to my NR specs. It'; have the heel in the right position for this particular body.

If it doesn't sell, I might use it anyway on my "Ric" or Gibson project.

Nice!

I see where there's a link to a site where any number of us might not be members. It will be better if you keep posting those pictures here where we are members. Thanks a bunch!

Just so you know... You don't have to be a member to see pics on Photobucket. The account just needs to be set as 'public' by the owner. If you do that, anyone can see them.

OK, since I last posted, I decided to do a pup swap. I scored some really nice USA Gibson TB pups as used on their Orville models in Japan. They are beauties, in really good shape. So, I decided they belonged in the maple bird. I had to rerout the cavities, no big deal.

The Fralin bassbuckers are going into the 98 Les Paul bass project, a perfect fit there.

Here's the update:

Nice work!

I really like the finish, really nice!

that would look great with a black 5 ply pickguard.

Yeah, that's Reranch butterscotch blonde. Shows off the maple grain real nice.

It's funny you should mention the guard. I've been thinking about it and I have some white material (w-b-w) that has faded to a nice cream color that I was thinking about using. I hadn't considered black but that would probably look pretty sharp too. My most recent idea was leave it without for a few weeks and see if it grew on me. So far, I think it looks pretty nice without a guard, the but the design of the NR guard is definitely part of its charm.

Ah yes- that color scheme reminds me a bit of that butterscotch Decade from Sway Back: (minus the jumbo housepets, of course)

That's looking very nice, Dr. B!
