Ripper approaching 2 grand?

Can anyone explain this to me: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150226265886

It doesn't even have a case. Unless you count the nut cases who are bidding on it.

I sold a fretted one recently for 900. If I wanted one bad enough I remove and keep the orig board and put on a fretless board. ,or wait because they are not that uncommon. [smilie=smilie_kopf.gif]

Bob Gollihur should be happy about this... he loves those dogs!

I have to admit; I rewired one for him with some Lane Poor pickups and some kind of preamp. once done, it really was a sweet playing (if ugly) bass

I just sold my Ripper for $1600 to help fund my '66 P. It had been licked by Steve Barr, so that might add a bit to the price?

Looks like the market went up on these something fierce. [smilie=smilie_kopf.gif]

I've owned a tobacco sunburst '74 fretted since 1977, so it's a good-looking bass to me. It has the fastest neck I've ever played, bar none. But these were $150 basses fifteen years ago. $1925 seems off the charts. There's another one up to $1400 on there now, maybe these things doubled in value when I wasn't looking?

Oh, and aussiemark got $1600 for his? Yeow, guess I need to buy a display case with video and alarm system.

That is just insane - most of these fretless Rippers dont even have side dots in the correct place.
