Sad news

It is with deepest sadness that we must pass on the news that Pete "The Fish" Stevens, co-founder of Wal Bass Guitars, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 28th December. He had recently celebrated his 65th birthday.

As many in the Wal family will know, Pete had suffered from chronic respiratory problems for many years. The world of music has lost a great innovator and a true craftsman, and we have lost a dear friend.

Pete's funeral will take place at Amersham Crematorium on Tuesday 10th January 2012 at 12:15pm.

Rather than send flowers, Pete's family has requested that friends make a donation to their favourite charity in his memory.

Wow, sad news. What a great contributor he was to the world of bass. RIP Pete Stevens.

Damn, that is a major bummer. Pete was a true gentleman...I spoke with him a number of times on the phone when I needed parts for my old Pro series & when I was sorting out details for my MK1 that he made for me & he was always kind & helpful... RIP Pete, you will be missed for sure.

RIP. Raise a pint and play your Wals in his honor.

Thanks Pete.

I specifically had these two out tonight so I could take a picture as a tribute to the two men whose signatures are on the covers:
On the left Pete (signed off), and on the right Ian (signed off). RIP
