BONGO 6 or Yamaha 6

BONGO 6 or Yamaha 6

Postby BluesBassPlayer » Tue Jul 29, 2008 4:20 pm

I'm considering a BONGO HS 6 or Yamaha TRB1006 AB 6-string.

Any opinions?

My head tells me the Yamaha, I don't know if I'll adapt well to a sixer, but my heart looks towards the BONGO.

I always like Yamahas low end and tone personally FWIW. Just do a youtube search for trb6. Lots of solo stuff there. The Yamaha has more of a singing quality to it than the Bongo to me. Bongos bite, Yamahas sing. YYMV

If you can find an early to mid 90's TRB6-P go with that, they're better than the new ones in a lot of peoples opinions. One not to get is the John Myung signature.

Here's one for sale, or was for sale. The 6p is neck through. This one only has one truss rod so I'm not sure what gives, maybe it's mis advertised. 6P-II's that I've seen also have two.

This is my 6P that I wish I never sold, many call them the best 6 string bass ever designed, and I agree! If you can find one snag it!
